November 18, 2023: Chapter 2 of our Adoption Story

It was Saturday and I had EVERYTHING left to do, but all I could hyper focus on was rehabbing a dresser to convert to a changing table. Luckily, Brenda understands me when I don’t even understand myself, so she came to my rescue and we painted and we repainted and I’m pretty sure we painted a third time. It took all afternoon, but that changing table was my delight. It was perfect.

We went somewhere- maybe it was lunch or maybe it was shopping- I don’t remember, but when we came back Amazon had delivered my car seat. We installed that and I decided that whatever happened or didn’t, at least I was ready to bring Maybe Baby home.

That night I attended Avry’s fall theatrical performance. I told my aunts, Peggy and Vicki. After the show, I told Avry.

“So…I went shopping and bought some things today. I wanna show you what I got and you’ll have to tell me what you think because I’m putting it to immediate use.” I showed him Maybe Baby’s very gender neutral coming home outfit.

“Does this mean what I think it does?”

“Yes!”

Avry, the aunts, and I all cried again.

I don’t remember for certain, but I’m sure I didn’t sleep that night.
